Google will offer NFC wireless charging feature with Android 15 update

The Qi standard, which uses the electromagnetic interference process, is considered the best and only option for wireless charging. But Google is going to offer another wireless charging standard by offering the new NFC wireless charging facility under the Android 15 update. In this case, it is claimed that this technology will be of special use in charging devices that do not have a large battery due to limited space, or do not support large charging coils.

Notably, the NFC Forum introduced NFC Wireless Charging (WLC) for the first time in 2020. This technology offers power transmission through compact antennas.

In the changelog of the Android 15 beta 1 version released by Google, a code written “Nfc Charging” was noticed. Which confirms the existence of NFC wireless charging in upcoming Android updates. However, this feature is not yet fully integrated into the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP). lude NFC wireless charging in their ecosystem.

While this charging concept seems quite functional, there are several limitations to NFC wireless charging. As such, this technology can transmit a maximum of 1 watt of power, which is many times less than the power transmit capacity of the slowest Qi chargers in existence. Due to this limitation, large devices cannot be charged using NFC wireless charging. Because a lot of power is required to charge devices such as mobiles, tablets, etc.
