Updating Google Chrome and Safari browsers? The device can be hacked

And with this fake update, Atomic Stealer Malware (AMOS) is sneaking into users' systems.

What is Atomic Stealer Malware (AMOS)?

AMOS is a malware that can steal passwords, personal information and other files from Mac systems. Usually, hackers target Windows users, but this time they are using AMOS malware to target Mac users.

AMOS malware is being spread to macOS users via Clear Fake, a cybersecurity firm recently told Malwarebytes.

How are you being cheated?

Fraudsters have created a clone of the Chrome and Safari browser download pages for this task. Which looks exactly like the original download page.

And after clicking on this fake download page, users are being asked to download .dmg file to MacBook. Then during installation, it is asking for administration password. And once the malware is installed, fraudsters start accessing all kinds of passwords and files.

How to stay safe?

If you want to protect your device from this malware, do not update Chrome and Safari browsers from any third-party sources.

Avoid notifications for updates while using a WordPress site. Never install installers from unknown sources on your device.
