Waiting to buy Apple Macbook powered by M3 processor? Big update for you

Apple is said to be working on their M3 processor for their MacBook and iMac. The new M3 chipset is expected to be built on a 3 nanometer architecture using technology from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).

However, it is reported that Apple may not launch an M3-powered MacBook this year. Meanwhile, Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the new M3 chip, as it is expected to come with a major upgrade over Apple's current generation M2 processor. But it's thought that production-based hurdles for the 3-nanometer chip will delay the launch of M3-powered MacBooks.

There may not be an M3-powered MacBook launch this year

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) about Apple's M3 processor. According to him, Apple will not launch an M3-powered MacBook this year. Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Apple may launch MacBooks with the new M3 processor as early as October this year. However, Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple's M3 chip is not yet ready for mass production

The Apple M3 processor is confirmed to be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) on a 3 nanometer architecture. It is worth noting that TSMC has only 55% of its manufacturing facilities to make 3 nanometer processors from raw silicon. The company has already mentioned that manufacturing 3 nanometer chips is quite challenging from a mass production point of view.

Earlier, a report revealed that Apple has reserved TSMC's entire 3-nanometer production lineup for its processors. Based on the situation, it is believed that Apple is currently prioritizing their A17 Bionic chip, which will be used in the iPhone 15 series. Apple is going to launch its latest smartphone series on September 12. Due to the new and attractive design of iPhone 15 with slim bezels, the demand for this series is expected to be very high. Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple may overtake Samsung to become the world's largest smartphone maker by the end of this year.

For all these reasons, Apple could not get ready to mass produce their M3 chips Ming-Chi Kuo has said that production of the Apple M3 chip may be delayed until the first quarter of next year. Already, TSMC is expected to ramp up its production line of 3-nanometer processors.

Apple M3 Processor Specifications (Expected)

The highlight of the upcoming Apple M3 processor is its 3 nanometer architecture, which will make it more energy efficient and increase the logic density of the chip. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Garman, the new chipset will have the same octa-core configuration as the existing Apple M2 processor. The chip is expected to have a 20 Watt TDP. The new processor will also be ARM-based, like every M-series processor. While using the same 10-core GPU configuration as the previous chip, the Apple M3 may have an increased GPU clock speed.

Apple will reportedly use the M3 processor in their regular MacBook first. It will also appear on MacBook Pro and iMac in the coming days. Apple may also unveil the M3 Pro and M3 Ultra processors later.
